Year 5 and 6 Cross Country

On Monday afternoon, a team of Year 5 and 6 Micklefield children headed to Reigate St Mary's for their annual Cross Country event with six local schools. Our runners showed real determination and enthusiasm and represented Micklefield beautifully in the sunshine.

Congratulations to Sophia S for coming 5th in the U10 girls race, Joseph W for coming 3rd in the U11 boys and Penelope G and Elle J for coming 2nd and 5th in the U11 girls race.

Boys Sports News

The boys rounded off their Rugby season with a fantastic block of fixtures against Chinthurst School this week. It was a pleasure to finish the term playing in sunshine - especially after a record 18 rain‑affected cancellations earlier in the season.

The Year 4 boys opened the week on Tuesday. The A team produced a cracking match full of determined tackling from both sides. The game remained close throughout, but Chinthurst finished to win 8–5. The B team also enjoyed a great close game, with Micklefield emerging 13–12 winners.

On Wednesday, the Year 5 boys travelled to Chinthurst and came away with a hard‑fought draw for the A team and a good win for the B team. The Year 6 boys played their final rugby matches for Micklefield and rose to the occasion. The A team were held to a 7–7 draw, while the B team fought brilliantly against a  strong opposition before narrowly losing 5–8.

On Thursday, Year 3 travelled to Chinthurst for their last tag rugby fixtures of the season. Both teams played brilliantly, with the A team tagging superbly and running straight to record a 15–4 win. The B team also impressed, in a high scoring match to win 13–10.

This brings our rugby season to a close. Despite the weather challenges, it has been a hugely successful campaign, finishing with an overall record of

Played: 39

Won: 27

Drawn: 6

Lost: 6

To lose only six matches all season is a tremendous achievement. Well done to all the boys and thank you to Mr Seneschall, Mr Avery, Mr Bracken and Mr Mackrell for their hard work and commitment throughout the term.

Girls Sports News

On Wednesday, the Year 5 girls took to the pitch for hockey matches against Chinthurst.

The A Team faced a strong and well‑drilled opposition, but the girls rose to the challenge with determination. Throughout the match, they worked tirelessly to hold their positions, attempt confident tackles and apply the skills they have been developing in training. Their resilience was clear right up to the final whistle and they should feel proud of their efforts.

The B Team earned a well‑deserved draw after a disciplined and focused performance. The girls demonstrated real progression, putting into practice everything we have been working on recently. Their passes were strong, accurate and well‑timed, which supported some excellent passages of play across the pitch.

The C Team enjoyed an outstanding win, showcasing speed, confidence and superb teamwork. Every player contributed, working hard to move the ball effectively and maintain pressure on their opponents.

Overall, it was a fantastic afternoon of hockey in the sunshine. Well played to all the girls for their enthusiasm, teamwork and sportsmanship.
