To help you understand our admissions process we have outlined below the steps you will take from initial enquiry to your child starting with us.
We recommend that you make contact as soon as possible if you are interested in your child joining Micklefield, most of our children enter the School via the Nursery but we do currently have availability in other year groups.
The first stage of our Admissions Process. We are always delighted to speak to prospective parents, answer any queries you may have and to guide you through the admissions process at Micklefield School and Belton House Nursery.
Please contact Kirsty Vines our Registrar using one of the contact methods below:

Following your enquiry, we will send you an information pack and invite you to attend one of our Open Mornings or to arrange an individual family tour with Mr Ardé, our Headmaster or Miss Rule, our Head of Nursery & Early Years.
The next stage in the process is to visit us, we love to meet our prospective families and it is also important for you to experience Micklefield first hand.
There are a number of different opportunities to visit us throughout the year.
We are pleased to offer individual tours of our Nursery and School. It is a great way to see the Nursery and School in action during a normal working day, and to be able to meet our Head of Nursery, Miss Rule or Headmaster, Mr Ardé.
Our working open mornings take place in the Autumn term and are an opportunity to hear a presentation from the Headmaster and be taken on a tour by our Year 6 tour guides on a normal working school day.
Our Saturday events give you the chance to properly meet all the teaching team as our Year Group teachers and specialist teaching team are based in their classrooms ready to meet with you and answer any queries you may have. Our Year 6 children are also available for tours.
Our biggest open morning of the year takes place in March after our Theme Week, it's a wonderful busy morning and a chance to get a proper feel for the whole Micklefield community coming together as both prospective and current parents are in attendance.
Once you have visited us and you would like to register your child, please kindly complete our Registration Form and return this as soon as possible, along with a non-refundable registration fee of £100.
This will register your child for a particular year group, although at this stage your place is not guaranteed. Once both the completed registration form and fee have been received, your application will be processed.
Following registration, your child will be invited into school for a Taster Morning or into nursery for an accompanied Stay and Play session.
Taster Morning
Children are invited to join their prospective cohort and experience what life at Micklefield School is like. Our taster visits usually start at 8.30am and your child will be ready for collection at either 12.00pm or 1.00pm.
Stay and Play session
Visiting a new setting can be a little daunting for our younger pupils and therefore we would like to invite you and your child into Nursery for an opportunity to explore our classrooms, meet new friends and our Nursery team, secure in the knowledge that you are close by. This visit usually lasts up to an hour.
For further information regarding Taster Mornings and Stay and Play sessions please contact Kirsty Vines, our Registrar on admissions@micklefieldschool.co.uk or call 01737 224212.
Your child will be offered a place on the basis of a successful visit.
To accept your child’s place, parents are asked to kindly complete and return our Acceptance Form based on our Terms and Conditions. At this time parents are also requested to pay a deposit to secure your child’s place.
Our Admissions Pack will be sent to you for your completion and return in the term before your child is due to start with us.
Joining the main school at the beginning of the Autumn Term
During the Summer term your child will be invited to attend our whole school transition morning which provides the opportunity to not only meet their new friends but also their teacher for the next academic year.
We also hold a number of events aimed at different year groups which provide additional opportunities for your child to come into school and experience life at Micklefield.
Joining Belton House Nursery
Prior to your child’s first day we will arrange up to three settling in sessions when your child visits our nursery independently. These visits usually last for an hour.
