U10 Boys Win RGS U10 Six a Side Cricket Tournament

On Wednesday, Micklefield entered a team in the RGS U10 Six a side cricket tournament. This prestigious tournament attracts some of the big London boys’ schools and we couldn’t have hoped for a better day for it in the sunshine.

The first match in the group stage was against a strong Dulwich College team. They hit 49 batting first in their five overs and in reply reached 48 to lose agonisingly by just one run, despite 15 off 6 balls from Finley and 8 off 2 balls from Sam.

The second match was an win against St Benedict’s School, including a five ball 13 from Elliott.
The last group match was against RSM. With them having beaten Dulwich, everything rested on this game for qualification for the knock out rounds.  Fortunately we won this match.

Batting first, Elliott hit 16 off 4, Finley 14 off 5, and Joshua 13 off 8 to pave the way to a very good score of 56 off our 5 overs. In reply, Joshua’s 3 wickets in 4 balls meant RSM subsided to 22 all out. A 34 run victory meant we won the group and were through to the semi-final against Chinthurst.

We won the semi-final with 2 wickets from Enzo and 1 from Joseph, restricting Chinthurst to 29 runs.

Meanwhile, RSM were beating Kings College School in the other semi to set up an all Reigate final. Batting first, RSM played some good shots to reach a competitive 45. However, Micklefield played well as team with 13 from Elliott, 9 from Finley and 10 from Joshua leading us to a 4 wicket victory with 4 balls to spare.

Micklefield were thrilled as a team to win the trophy, playing great cricket all day and embodying the spirit of cricket throughout. Very well played to Elliott, Finley, Joshua, Sam, Enzo and Joseph.
