Receptions Adventure to the London Wetlands Centre

Reception had a fantastic time exploring the London Wetlands Centre. After a safety talk and a snack, the children set off on a bird-spotting walk, eagerly searching for wildlife as they made their way to meet the otters.

What a treat it was to see the otters enjoying their breakfast—trout and razor clams! The children also spotted Bob the Heron, a local resident who has made himself quite at home thanks to the abundance of free food. Hopefully, the otters didn’t mind sharing!

The wonderful Wetlands Centre teacher, Moa, then guided the children to the Pond Zone, where they learned about pond dipping safety and the best way to use nets, before jumping into their own discoveries.

With great excitement, they uncovered a variety of fascinating creatures, including pond snails, sludge worms and even newts.

After lunch, the children had the chance to explore the Adventure Playground in the beautiful sunshine, making special memories together as they approach the final weeks in Reception.

We were very proud of the children for demonstrating exemplary behaviour and embracing the Micklefield values throughout the day. Thank you to Mr White and Mrs Short for joining Reception on this unforgettable trip.
