The children arrived at school on Monday morning, full of anticipation and eager to find out if the chicks had hatched over the weekend. We are thrilled to announce that all six chicks have now hatched! Two hatched last Friday with the remaining four hatching early on Saturday morning. This is the first time we have had a 100% hatching rate for our chickens at Micklefield.
Across the week, some of the children had the chance to gently hold the chicks during their lessons. It has been fascinating to see how much they have changed in such a short time and have become livelier by the day - making for plenty of entertaining moments.
The children have all had such wonderful suggestions for their names. After much excitement and thoughtful discussion, we are delighted to announce that the names for this year's chicks are: Pickle, Mango, Magnum, Chicklefield, Peckle and Pepper.
At the end of today, the chicks will move to their new home on a farm. We look forward to keeping you updated on their progress and adventures!
