It has been another busy week of sport at Micklefield, with our boys playing football at Caterham, our Year 3 girls enjoying their first opportunity to represent the school in hockey against RSM and a Netball tournament for our Year 6 girls at Aberdour.

Boys’ Football vs Caterham

On Wednesday, the Year 5 and 6 boys travelled to Caterham for four competitive matches. The A team played very well and created plenty of chances before a 2-0 defeat, while the B team also battled hard in a 2-0 loss. The C team played twice, losing their first match 3-1 before finishing on a high with an excellent 2-2 draw.

The boys represented Micklefield brilliantly and it was particularly lovely to receive a compliment from a Caterham parent about their excellent behaviour during match tea.

On Thursday, it was the turn of the Year 4 boys. The A team took an early lead before eventually losing 3-1, while the B team enjoyed an entertaining 2-2 draw.

Well played to all the boys this week.

Girls’ U8 Hockey vs RSM

This week marked the first opportunity for our Year 3 girls to represent Micklefield, and they were excited to become school ambassadors.

The girls worked incredibly hard throughout, showing great determination, making tackles and looking to pass the ball whenever possible. Their positive play created several goal-scoring opportunities and, despite all teams suffering narrow defeats, there were plenty of positives to take from a wonderful afternoon of hockey.

Well done to all the girls on representing Micklefield so positively!

Year 6 Netball Tournament at Aberdour

On Wednesday, the Year 6 girls enjoyed a busy afternoon of netball at the Aberdour tournament, with the A, B and C teams each playing five matches.

The B team secured three fantastic wins to finish third, earning themselves a well-deserved bronze medals. The A and C teams also played brilliantly, with all the girls working hard, supporting one another and representing Micklefield wonderfully.  Well done Year 6!

Sporting Congratulations

Congratulations to Isabelle C in Year 6, who has been selected to play football at the Gothia Cup international youth football tournament in Sweden next Summer. A fantastic achievement and an exciting opportunity. Well done, Isabelle!
