House Assemblies Celebrate Kindness

This morning, pupils came together in their House groups to explore and celebrate Micklefield’s value of this term: Kindness.

Each House approached the theme in a unique and engaging way, encouraging children to think about how kindness can be shown to others, to the environment and within our community.

Fonteyn House focused on kindness towards nature. Children were provided with resources to create bug hotels for our Nature Haven garden, helping to support local wildlife and encouraging biodiversity within the school grounds.

Waterlow House explored kindness through the fascinating world of African wildlife. Following a presentation about an African safari, children learnt amazing facts about elephants, giraffes, buffalo, baboons, zebra, kudu and native birds. They then created colourful elephant artworks featuring words associated with kindness.

Somers House created their own “Little Spots of Kindness”. Children drew faces on one side of a card and wrote kind messages on the other. These will be displayed on the Somers House noticeboard as a reminder of the many ways we can show kindness every day.

Cranston House enjoyed a series of team challenges and games. Activities included giving compliments, completing obstacle courses together and taking part in a recycling challenge, all designed to promote teamwork, encouragement and consideration for others.
