Year 3 & 4 Boys Shine at Starborough Manor Football Tournament

Yesterday, a team of Year 3 and 4 boys travelled to Starborough Manor near Lingfield for their annual football tournament and enjoyed an excellent afternoon of football.

The boys got off to a strong start with a 2-1 victory over The Mead School, before producing an even more impressive performance to beat Radnor House 4-0. A hard-fought 0-0 draw against Caterham in their final group match secured top spot and a place in the Cup semi-finals.

Facing Chinthurst in the semi-final, the boys battled brilliantly to earn a 1-1 draw and take the game into golden goal extra time. Despite creating several excellent chances and striking the crossbar twice, they were unable to find the winner, meaning the match was decided by penalties.

In a heartbreaking finish, Micklefield narrowly lost the shootout 5-4. Although disappointed not to reach the final, the boys should be immensely proud of their performances, teamwork and determination throughout the tournament. It was a fantastic afternoon of football and a wonderful representation of the school.

U11 Girls' Hockey vs Chinthurst

On Wednesday, the U11 girls travelled to Tadworth for a hockey fixture against Chinthurst. With a larger Micklefield squad available, the team was split into four, with each team playing half a match.

The A team delivered an outstanding performance, scoring several goals to secure a convincing win. The B team faced a strong challenge but showed great determination and resilience throughout their game. Meanwhile, the C and D teams played some excellent hockey, earning a draw and a narrow loss respectively.

As the afternoon progressed, the girls grew in confidence and continued to improve with each match. The team came away with plenty of positives and some valuable areas to work on ahead of their next fixture. Well done to all the girls for their effort, teamwork and sportsmanship.

U10C Netball vs Essendene Lodge

The U10C girls showed fantastic determination and enthusiasm in their match against Essendene Lodge on Wednesday. While the result wasn’t in their favour, there were lots of positives to celebrate, with some excellent passing, movement and teamwork developing across the court.

The girls worked tirelessly in defence, challenging for every ball and putting their opponents under pressure. It was wonderful to see the progress they are making, and we look forward to seeing them continue to grow in confidence and skill over the coming weeks.
