First House Meetings of the Autumn Term

This morning, the whole school came together for their first House Meetings of the Autumn Term, centred around our value of the term, Kindness.
A special welcome was extended to our Reception children, who attended their very first House Meeting as members of Somers, Waterlow, Cranston and Fonteyn. It was wonderful to see them joining their houses and beginning to build connections with pupils across the school.
The Year 6 pupils took the lead by introducing themselves to their fellow house members. They shared their hobbies, interests, pets, siblings, favourite subjects and their most memorable moments at Micklefield so far. They also delivered motivational messages to inspire their houses for the year ahead, encouraging everyone to earn house points, work together and strive for success.
Following the speeches, each house took part in activities exploring what kindness means in our daily lives. Cranston pupils enjoyed getting to know one another through group discussions and introductions. Fonteyn pupils worked collaboratively to create messages of kindness on yellow card strips (symbolising rays of kindess), sharing ideas such as holding doors open, making someone smile, helping friends in the playground, saying hello and including new friends in games. Somers connected with a house member they didn't know, shook hands and introduced themselves. Waterlow pupils shared something kind about or an act of kindness with a younger member of their house.
It was a wonderful start to the term, creating connections across the school community and encouraging pupils to think about how small acts of kindness can make a big difference. We look forward to seeing all four houses embodying this important value throughout the term.
