Girls Sport News

On Tuesday, the Year 3 girls enjoyed a lovely afternoon of cricket against Hazelwood, with both teams showing enthusiasm, teamwork and growing confidence in match situations.

The A team faced a strong Hazelwood side and despite some determined batting and good fielding, unfortunately lost by 15 runs.

The B team produced a good performance to secure a 4-run victory.

Across both matches, the girls continue to make steady progress in their cricket ability and understanding of match play. Their confidence when batting and bowling is growing each week.  The girls played with great spirit and sportsmanship and represented the school superbly.

On Thursday, a team of mixed U8 and U9 girls headed to Ewell Castle School for a cricket fixture.

They managed to dodge the rain showers and were even blessed with sunny spells!

The girls played really well in a tightly contested match. A highlight was their communication and quick thinking whilst in bat.  A huge well done to everyone.

Boys Sport News

This week all the boys in Upper School played cricket matches against Banstead Prep School.

On Tuesday, the Year 3 and 4 boys had three great matches. The A team had a nailbiting win by just two runs, holding their nerve right to the end. The B and C team also had good wins, bowling straighter than their opponents and batting well.

On Wednesday the Year 5 and 6 boys had to battle with the weather to play their games. Heavy showers interrupted the matches throughout the afternoon. The C team managed a win before the final heavy downpour.  Unfortunately, the A and B team games both had to be abandoned unfinished. Micklefield were in a strong position in both and would definitely have won on Duckworth-Lewis.

A repeat of Tuesday’s fixtures was planned for Thursday, but unfortunately a badly timed thunderstorm meant Banstead had to turn around and drive back home without ever getting off the minibus.

Let’s all hope for better weather next week!
