It was wonderful to enjoy two school music concerts today, showcasing the outstanding musical talent here at Micklefield.
This morning, Year 2 entertained the school with whole‑class violin performances, alongside a number of impressive solo piano and violin performances. Our string ensemble delighted the audience with Spring by Vivaldi and Mr Electric Blue by Benson Boone. Year 3 and 4 Choir, accompanied by Year 6 on the ukuleles, had everyone’s toes tapping with lively performances of Riptide and Counting Stars by Imagine Dragons.
This afternoon, parents enjoyed watching our second Music Showcase. The audience were treated to performances from the Percussion Ensemble, Mr Fitzwalter’s Year 4 and Year 6 Bands and the Brass Ensemble, who performed Harry’s Wondrous World and Nimbus 2000 from Harry Potter.
The afternoon concert also included repeat performances from the String Ensemble and the Year 3 and 4 Choir, accompanied by Year 6 on the ukuleles, making for a thoroughly enjoyable and uplifting showcase of musical talent.

A big thank you to Mrs Swan and our peripatetic music teachers for their dedication in teaching and inspiring the children, and to our parents for all their support with practice and early morning rehearsals. It was a wonderful and uplifting day, and a shining example of the strength of the wider music curriculum and performing opportunities available to children here at Micklefield School.
