We all support each other to inspire kindness, empathy and connectedness.  At Micklefield, children’s safety, happiness and wellbeing are at the very heart of our family ethos and everything we do.

Our PSHE/RSE curriculum centres on nurturing the children’s abilities to safeguard themselves personally, emotionally, physically and as members of a diverse and culturally rich society. Though our ‘No Outsiders- Everyone is Welcome at Micklefield’ lessons, the children gain a crucial understanding that everyone is unique and special, it creates a sense of belonging and explores the protected characteristics of the Equality Act. We discuss many themes such as discrimination, inclusion, prejudice and stereotypes in a way that fosters great understanding.

We recognise that children’s mental health is a crucial factor in their overall wellbeing and this can affect their whole self. The children are taught all about the importance of having a Growth Mindset, a positive attitude, mindfulness and developing a firm understanding of our core values (the KRs - Kindness, Respect, Responsibility and Resilience).

Our PSHE curriculum has been built with the aim to support the development of the ‘whole child’ and is accessible for all. It also ensures that children will be equipped to support their decision making in regards to their wellbeing, health and relationships in an ever-changing world.

"The oldest pupils' PSHE books contain highly imaginative and reflective ideas about how one can know something that cannot be seen exists, such as love, kindness and God."... ISI March 2023
