Geography

At Micklefield, we inspire our children to have a curiosity about the world and help them to understand that Geography has a crucial part to play in their understanding of the wider world, its problems and its solutions.

The children take part in a wide variety of field work activities and local walks. They learn how to read and draw maps and follow a compass.

The curriculum includes a variety of human and physical geographical studies covering mountain ranges, landmarks and river formation. The children have the opportunity to visit Bough Beech reservoir to study the water cycle, Gatton Park to explore the natural beauty and sensory walks, as well as numerous field work outings in the local area. In Upper School our children have the opportunity to take part in Geographical competitions run by local senior schools.

Our aim here at Micklefield is to engage and enthuse our children by delivering an interactive, fun and practical Geography curriculum.
