On Wednesday, 32 exhausted children and 4 exhausted members of staff arrived back from Windmill Hill after three fabulous days at PGL. The children were busy from very early in the morning until quite late at night, trying their hand at all sorts of activities from raft building to rifle shooting and abseiling to the giant swing (to name but a few). Many of the children commented that they would like to stay for longer but on Wednesday our time was up and home we came with mixed emotions – sad to be leaving but happy to see our families.
We were lucky to have a fabulous group leader called Brandon and at the end of our stay he congratulated the children (and us) on their great behaviour, team work and cooperation. He told us that all of the PGL staff who led our sessions commented on the children’s excellent attitudes and this was really lovely to hear. Micklefield have quite a reputation at PGL for having delightful children! Well done to all!
Thank yous must also go to Mrs Gillibrand, Mr White and Mr Bracken for happily giving their time to take the children away. All of us love this trip and this year was no exception. It really is a pleasure to spend the time with the children and to see different sides to them that may be hidden when at school.
Well done to all of the Year 5’s – I think they have all grown a little bit in the last few days and are definitely showing greater independence alongside excellent persistence and resilience. Year 6 is beckoning for you all and I know I am speaking for Mrs Gillibrand too when I say that you have been a pleasure to teach this year and we both wish you well as you move to the top of the school. Keep on showing those skills that you have learnt and remember to always do your best!
