A huge thank you to everyone who came in today dressed with something brightly coloured, to raise awareness of World Mental Health Day. Mental health problems can affect anyone, any day of the year, but the 10th October has been a great day to show our support for better mental health and start to think about looking after our own and each other’s well-being.

It is so important to promote the ethos that it is alright to ask for help. In assembly today we talked about how some of the brightly coloured items can be easily seen but others are more hidden (like the t-shirt under the school shirt). We said that the same to can be applied to feelings and emotions – it is not always obvious when someone is feeling ‘not like themselves.’ At Micklefield, we are a family, everyone is welcome and we care for each other. A small act of kindness goes a long way.

We all need to take care of our mental health and well-being whether we have a mental health problem or not. Thank you again for acknowledging this day and showing advocacy against possible social stigma.
