Our Year 3s had a fascinating time at Wakehurst Place, Kew’s wild botanic gardens, investigating plant collections, the biology of flowers and the environment.

The children learned about how the diversity of a plant’s structure helps their reproductive process with some hands on work dissecting and studying Alstroemeria with binocular microscopes. They were wowed by the beauty of the biology of flowers and seeing the pollen and plant eggs close up. The children also enjoyed a walk around the plant collections and beautiful Wakehurst grounds to support work they are doing in class on the life cycles of flowering plants.
