Shape and Colour, Spring and Summer
 
For the first half of term we will be:
Looking at 2D/3D shapes.
Talking about the seasons and changes that we see in spring.
Learning about Noah and the journey he made. Looking at the weather and talking about how
rainbows are made.
Having a Rainbow Colour Week and looking at colour around us.
Looking at the environment outside and planting sunflowers to grow at home and at school.
Wearing our new Micklefield Explorer overalls!
Looking at how we can enrich soil and planting our vegetable seeds.
Walking to and using our sports field in preparation for our Sports Day.
Learning about butterflies and keeping pupae to observe what happens.
Talking about Jack and his journey up the beanstalk.
Talking about life on a farm.
Farm visit to Ladyland Farm.
Reception teachers to visit regularly to get to know children, read stories and join in activities. Visits
to Reception classes continues until the end of the term.
Preps to join Lower School children for hymn practice on Wednesdays.
 
After half term we will be:
Welcoming Summer!
Enjoying the changes in Belton House garden and looking after our vegetables.
Inviting year groups to Belton House to join us for snacks.
Creating a Micklefield Café.
Visiting Box Hill and making treasure boxes.
Looking at our grown sunflowers and drawing them.
Travelling to different countries in our Travel Agency.
Under the sea. Looking at colours and patterns.
Talking about Monet and looking at pictures of his famous garden.
Creating a Garden Centre and making plants and pots.
Using our school field.
Preps Sports Day.
Parents Evenings.
Reports.
Whole School visits to new classes.
Woodwork week.
 
Music :
Songs to be chosen to fit in with term's theme(s) and use of instruments to provide accompaniments and to improve knowledge of rhythm, beat, dynamics and speed.
